June Weddings: Cheryee & Kevin - June 14, 2008

I had the honor of working with and assisting F.C. Wong (F.C. Wong Photography) with 2 amazing weddings in the month of June 2008. Since this was my first time shooting a wedding, I didn't know what to expect, I was nervous and excited.

We shot back to back weddings on the weekend of June 14 & 15th 2008, which as a beginner were exhausting. I had a great time and I thank F.C. Wong for allowing me the opportunity of working with him and his clients. He's given me a foundation to work from and for that I will always be thankful.

The following images are from Cheryee & Kevin's wedding in Tiburon, CA on June 14.

Maui 2008

In the month of May 2008, I had the chance to visit one of the most beautiful hot spots in the world,Maui. Me & my wife celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We had a wonderful time in Maui and can't wait to go back.

Here are some pictures I shot with my Canon 5D
Enjoy!

Sitting on the beach, looks like a scene out of a postcard doesn't it!

I caught 2 kids making a run for it....Look Out!

couple that walked by us

My wife's foot print just before the waves swept it away

A canoe that was on display at the resort near the beach

We took a road trip along the north coast of Maui and found ourselves on this beautiful cliff.

Enjoying a nice refreshing drink.....AHHH!!

The day of our Anniversary, we took a road trip to Mt. Halaekala-roughly 10,000 feet above sea level. This is a view of the crater, I can't tell you how powerful yet peaceful it was up there.

We sat on the beach, watched the sun set, toasted with 2 Corona's and said "Happy Anniversary" to one another.

Relaxing on the beach

The Sunsets in Maui are simply spectacular, this is a view from our resort...JEALOUS?

Photography.....what is this medium?

Everyone has his or her own interpretation of what photography is. Whether it’s capturing a single moment or expressing an emotion, it’s an art form that has no boundaries and no one person looks at an image the same. As the old saying goes, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” For me, photography is a way of expressing myself through the eyes of a lens. It is capturing precious moments that would otherwise be lost.

I’ve always been fascinated with art. Growing up in a small town in India, I spent long summer days watching my grandfather sketch. He wasn’t really an artist and his sketches weren’t the greatest, but he loved it. He worked for many years on the Indian Railway, so his hands were rough. But those hands inspired a six-year-old boy. Perhaps the images weren’t perfect but it didn’t matter. That’s the way my grandfather expressed his art and creativity and it was beautiful.

The experience with my grandfather remains an influence in my life. I remember my grandfather’s patience and how he completely immersed himself into his sketches. I have that feeling for photography. Photography, and photo journalism in particular, is my way of expressing myself, capturing the emotions and actions of other people.

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with F.C. Wong (F.C. Wong Photography), a renowned San Francisco Bay Area photographer. So far, I’ve assisted him at three weddings. I can’t wait for the next wedding because I absolutely love capturing the emotions and actions of two individuals in love.
